33 حكمة للامام علي عليه السلام
1- “Do not be too hard, lest you be broken; do not be too soft, lest you be squeezed.”
2-“A man's measure is his will.”
3- “You [humans] think that you an insignificant, while there is a great universe contained in you.”
4- "Do not share the knowledge with which you have been blessed with everyone in general, as you do with some people in particular; and know that there are some men in whom Allah, may He he glorified, has placed hidden secrets, which they are forbidden to reveal. Remember the reply of the righteous slave to Moses when he said to him: 'May I follow you so that you can teach me what you know about what is right?' He replied: 'Surely you will not be able to be patient with me. How can you be patient about something which you do not understand?'”
5- “If poverty were a man, I would have slain him.”
6_ “To make one good action succeed another, is the perfection of goodness.”
7_ “A poor man is like a foreigner in his own country.”
8_ “People's hearts are like wild animals. They attach their selves to those that love and train them.”
9_ "No one has ever suffered from his people as I have.”
10_ “Let me alone, and go in search of someone else..”
11_ “I was not created to be occupied by eating delicious foods like tied up cattle”
12_ “He who busies himself with things other than improvement of his own self becomes perplexed in darkness and entangled in ruin. His evil spirits immerse him deep in vices and make his bad actions seem handsome.”
13_ “Abstinence from sins is better than seeking help afterwards.”
14- “I do not find that piety benefits a man who practises it unless he controls his tongue. Certainly, the tongue of a believer is at the back of his heart while the heart of a hypocrite is at the back of his tongue; because when a believer intends to say anything, he thinks it over in his mind. If it is good, he discloses it, but if it is bad he lets it remain concealed. While a hypocrite speaks whatever comes to his tongue, without knowing what is in his favour and what goes against him.”
15_ “Do for this life as if you live forever, do for the afterlife as if you die tomorrow”
16_ He who has a thousand friends has not a friend to spare, And he who has one enemy will meet him everywhere.
17_ A fool's mind is at the mercy of his tongue and a wise man's tongue is
under the control of his mind.
18_ A friend is not a true friend unless he protects his brother in three
situations: in his misfortune, in his absense, and at his death.
19_ Be afraid of a gentleman when he is hungry, and of a mean person
when his stomach is full.
20_ During civil disturbance adopt such an attitude that people do not
attach any importance to you - they neither burden you with
complicated affairs, nor try to derive any advantage out of you.
21_ Every breath you take is a step towards death.
22_ Every person who is tempted to go astray, does not deserve punishment.
23_ Fear more the sin when you are out of sight, it is where your witness is
also your judge.
24_ He who has a thousand friends has not a friend to spare,
And he who has one enemy will meet him everywhere.
25_ He who is greedy is disgraced; he who discloses his hardship will always
be humiliated; he who has no control over his tongue will often have to face discomfort.
26_ If you overpower your enemy, then pardon him by way of thankfulness to Allah, for being able to subdue him.
27_ Remember that enjoyments pass while consequences remain.
28_ Submission to Allah's (God's) Will is the best companion; wisdom is the
noblest heritage; theoretical and practical knowledge are the best signs of distinction; deep thinking will present the clearest picture of every problem.
29_ The mind of a wise man is the safest custody of secrets; cheerfulness is
the key to friendship; patience and forbearance will conceal many
30_ This life of ours is a sleep..and when we die we wake up from the sleep.
31_ When this world favors somebody, it lends him the attributes, and
surpassing merits of others and when it turns its face away from him it
snatches away even his own excellences and fame.
32_ When you get ill do not get nervous about it and try as much as
possible to be hopeful.
33_ Do for this life as if you live forever, do for the afterlife as if you die tomorrow.
